Artwork No. 146

Zenkonyu x Tamping Earth

The Shiwaku Islands were once famous for their skilled shipbuilders who started building temples and houses from the eighteenth century during the middle of the Edo Period. Hoping to revive the tradition, the Shiwaku Carpenters built the Zenkonyu for the previous Triennale, a building that includes an eight-meter-high tower.
