Artwork No. sd07
A neglected pool is transformed into a garden
In the past, elementary school children in Onude, Hitoyama, enjoyed swimming in this pool. The artist has made it the centerpiece of a garden for the local
community. He chose the pool for his site as a way of making contact with local people through the element of water and connecting the work intimately with the history of Hitoyama and Nakayama. The project seeks to reinterpret the area’s distinctive industries, materials and culture and breathe new life into this spot which was neglected for some 15 years.
