The Secret of Hanasuwajima

Hanasuwajima is an uninhabited island off the shore of Mito Peninsula. Taking this tiny island as its motif, this work depicts land and sea on a 16-sided inverted cone. The undersea world is captured in crayon and oil pastel within the cone. Standing in the middle of the work, the visitor feels enveloped by the land and sea.
