2019.11.15 Setouchi Triennale 2019 has been featured on the website of New York Times

Setouchi Triennale 2019, which ended on November 4th, has been featured in the article of “The 52 Places Traveler On an Art Scavenger Hunt in Japan's Seto Inland Sea” on the website of New York Times on 12 November.


In January of this year, “Setouchi Islands” was selected as the seventh place of “52 Places to Go in 2019” in the article of the same website. This time, the charms of lifestyle on the islands as well as artworks have been introduced in the article.

●Seppuku Pistols

Under the watchword “Turn Japan into Edo period!” they wear the Japanese traditional farmer’s kimono and playing Japanese traditional instruments. Each member acts in the field of a local research, films, craftsman, agriculture and Terakoya (private school) etc.
The group was born in Tokyo on the New Year's Eve 1999, and currently organized around 10 members across Japan.
They are the Japanese musical instrument team, which has gained popularity by performing and parading with drums, Shamisen, a bell, and Shino flute from the port to the village. In addition, at the temples and shrines, they are performing and parading as “The Edo first squad”.

In order to see all of SETOUCHI ART BOOK FAIR, both Tamamo Park entrance fee and Hiunkaku entrance fee are required.

・ Admission free after 17:30 ~ on October 25th (Fri), 26th (Sat)

Content
About 100 selected bookstores, publishers, and artists around Asia gathered in Setouchi, which was cultural exchange spot from ancient times, and works and magazines will be on sale. In addition to the exhibition / sales booths (Hiunkaku), there will be food booths and talk events in Tamamo Park. A unit by Miyako Araki who introduces books from independent publishers and Tetsuya Ogasawara who presides over events related to books.


[Miyako Araki]
Master degree of the University of London, completed "Fram School of Food in Setouchi". Launched LITO BOOKS based on Shodoshima and Tokyo, and introducing independent publishers' books. She does crowdfunding to publish rare books of the foreign writer.


[Tetsuya Ogasawara]
The representative of BOOK MARÜTE (Takamatsu), green light + MARÜTE (Taichung) . Planning and managing everything related to books. He is involved in various book fairs across Asia.

2019.10.10 Due to the approaching Typhoon #19, The Setouchi Triennale 2019 artworks and facilities will be closed all day on October 12, Saturday.

Typhoon #19 is approaching according to information issued by the Takamatsu Meteorological Agency. Artworks and facilities will be temporarily closed all day except some artworks on October 12. All events on this day will be cancelled.

*No. sd27 “GEORGES gallery” on Shodoshima and No. sd32 “Fisherman's Dream” in Twenty-Four Eyes Movie Village, Shodoshima will be open normal hours on October 12.

*No. mg19 “Oninoko Tile Project” in Onigashima Cave on Megijima, No. tk13 “Portraits of Architecture in JAPAN: Stories of its protagonists” at The Kagawa Museum, No. tk15 “Suitcase in a Bottle” in Takamatsu Yashima, No. tk16 “Place out of Time” in Shikokumura, No. tk18 “Watch Tower” in Takamatsu Ryuozan each have a website, so please check for further information.

Some artworks will be closed from the morning on October 11 due to damage prevention. The artworks will be reopened after checking the condition, and events will be expected to be held as well on October 13.
