Shishigaki Island

sd06

Stone structures that reproduce Shodoshima’s unique culture Shishigaki are stone walls erected along fields to keep out boars. The construction style used on Shodoshima was unique and dates back some 200 years. The artist built a shishigaki in 2013, and in 2016, added a stone pyramid as a reminder of Shodoshima’s unique culture.
