mg27≪From Summer≫ A nautical device for charting a course across an imaginary sea Stick charts are nautical charts made from fibers and shells. In an abandoned house on the east shore of Megijima, a music box playing tunes corresponding to the 12 months of the year is linked to three stick charts that mimic the movement of celestial bodies. Discs connecting the charts and the music box rotate while undulating up and down. The work is a mechanical planetarium that conveys the course followed by a modern Ulysses.
