Shinro Ohtake

Artwork No. 045

MECON

A huge palm that once grew on the island towers satellite-like above a buoy, surrounded by a mosaic of kitsch tiles, alligator art objects, pieces from ships and other items. The installation, the defunct elementary school and the vegetation weave the space into a single work. First appearing at the 2013 Triennale, the elements of the installation proliferate every festival season. Ohtake’s unique vision reaches out this time as far as the school entrance.
