Artwork No. 011
Art House Project "Minamidera"
Tadao Ando designed this building on a former temple site. At first the interior appears pitch-black, but as their eyes adjust, visitors gradually perceive a faint light emitting from the artwork.
Art House Project
The Art House Project restores traditional Naoshima houses, temples and shrines and transforms them into art spaces. Located in a ‘living’ district, they are interwoven with memories of a time when these dwellings were homes. The project began in 1998, and seven buildings are currently open to the public.
