The Spring Season ends in just one week. So, attention please! This week is your last chance to see the artworks on Shamijima (Tanya Preminger’s “Stratums” and the beach house will remain).

Yesterday, the “Murals Exhibition” opened at the Marugame Genichiro-Inokuma Museum of Contemporary Art. The exhibition will run until June 23 and includes the recently rediscovered mural “Fluid City”. This work, which was created for a hotel lounge in Kyoto in 1970 and which makes use of light in a way that is unusual for Inokuma, still remains fresh and striking.

Please note that there is only one more week in which to purchase a 3 Season Passport (until April 21). This Passport grants one-time-only admission to almost all artworks during both the Summer and Autumn Seasons, as well as many other privileges. The Summer Passport cannot be used in Autumn, so if there is a possibility that you might visit in both seasons, now is the time to get a 3 Season Passport.

The Passports serve as a guide to the Setouchi Triennale, a unique festival that allows you to see and experience diverse facets of the Seto Inland Sea region. Take for instance Sunday’s event in Shamijima. Visitors came away inspired by the multi-layered world woven by topography, climate, lifestyle, culture and diet, as presented in Susumu Nakanishi’s talk on 8th century poet Kakimoto no Hitomaru, and refreshed by the Man’yo tea ceremony.
