Little Shops on the Island "Laundry"
Old houses have been turned into quirky little shops such as a hair salon and laundromat, making life more convenient for the islanders and entertaining visitors. These distinctive yet useful works turn the area into a “little shop” theme park.
A laundromat where fantasy and reality merge
A surreal laundromat appears as part of the Little Shops on the Island Project. A video installation of washers with rotating laundry covers one wall. On the opposite wall are real coin-operated washers and dryers through which people can interact with the work. Fantasy and reality merge together in the same space, confusing viewers.
