Shikokumura Museum Entrance " Oyanesan"

tk20

New landmark at the foot of Mount Yashima The new entrance building to Shikokumura, an open-air folk house museum, is distinguished by its dramatically curved roof and has been affectionately dubbed “Oyane-san,” meaning Honorable Roof, in recognition of Tatsuo Kato, the museum’s founder. Kato was so fascinated by the beauty of traditional thatched roofs that he established the museum and relocated remarkable examples of Japanese folk houses from Shikoku to its grounds. In addition to the ticket office and museum store, the building also has an exhibition area that introduces the people involved in the museum’s establishment.
