Artwork No. 015
Art House Project "Kinza"
Using traditional construction techniques, a small, 200-year-old building has been transformed into a work of art, the exterior included, while retaining the original roof and posts. Visitors are allowed in one at a time for 15 minutes each.
Art House Project
The Art House Project restores traditional Naoshima houses, temples and shrines and transforms them into art spaces. Located in a ‘living’ district, they are interwoven with memories of a time when these dwellings were homes. The project began in 1998, and seven buildings are currently open to the public.
