His real name is Liu Jun and was born in Shanghai, China. He was a scenic designer at a theater group before coming to Japan. He completed his doctoral degree at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2015. Practiced Buddhist austerities and studied art at a Buddhist temple in Japan for a long time. Art is a spiritual pursuit and religion to him. His artworks are displayed under the name of his monk's name, Funjo Hagetaka.
