Teshima is a fertile island with many terraced paddy fields. Human habitation dates back over 14,000 years and the island has now been transformed into a stage for contemporary artists. Some projects utilize the island’s bountiful harvests to produce fusions of art, architecture and cuisine.
Transportation on the Island
There are two ports on Teshima: Ieura and Karato. Main art sites are located in three areas: Ieura, Kou and Karato vicinity. Out of consideration for the islanders, we ask that visitors use the local bus service.
