Inujima Seirensho Art Museum
A place to re ect on what we have lost and contemplate the future
The ruins of a copper refinery, a relic of industrial modernization, are reborn as an art museum. The design places minimal load on the natural environment, using renewable energy sources and materials found on the site, including stone and karami bricks. The motif of the works within is Yukio Mishima, who warned his country of the dangers of modernization. The museum provides an opportunity to reflect on what contemporary society has lost and to contemplate the future.
