Artwork No. na15-B

Art House Project "Ishibashi"

A century-old residence and warehouse restored and transformed into an artwork houses The Falls, a 15-meter-long work exploring waterfalls, a familiar motif in Senju’s work, and The Garden of Ku. The latter work, which covers 14 sliding paper screens, depicts a landscape inspired by the Setouchi region.

Art House Project
The Art House Project restores traditional Naoshima houses, temples and shrines and transforms them into art spaces. Located in a ‘living’ district, they are interwoven with memories of a time when these dwellings were homes. The project began in 1998, and seven buildings are currently open to the public.
