Yuki Okawa

Japan

Born in Kisarazu City, Chiba, Japan in 1987. Graduated from Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music in 2012 with a major in sculpture.
Okawa creates her sculptures and installations through examining and connecting memories retained by objects, time, and memory fragments, reconstructing them as a new form of time.

Selected Exhibitions and Activities
2013 Solo exhibition: Matsuri produced by Hisashi Tenmyouya at Tengai Gallery. Continues to present solo exhibitions.
2018 Artist residency and exhibition using old clothes in Brooklyn, New York.
Recently, Okawa has been holding workshops on creating things from old clothes and working with architect Takeo Minato on a project to remake furniture from clients’ used clothes.
2021 Participated in the Suzu 2020+ Oku-noto Triennale at the Suzu Theatre Museum “Ark of Light”. Created a work with local residents.
