Richard Streitmatter-Tran


Richard Streitmatter-Tran (b. 1972, Bien Hoa, Vietnam) is an artist based in Ho Chi Minh City. He graduated from the Studio for Interrelated Media at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. While his early career began in performance art and new media, his current focus involves the investigation of materials through sculpture, installation, painting and drawing that often explore the human relation to the natural world. He has joined the Singapore Biennial (2006, 2008), and the 52nd Venice Biennale (2007) Shenzhen and Hong Kong Bi-city Biennale (2007), the 4th Guangzhou Triennale (2011), the 2nd Asia Triennial in Manchester (2011), and the Thailand Biennale (2018) and group exhibitions at the Singapore Art Museum, Palais de Tokyo, and ZKM Karlsruhe. Streitmatter-Tran’s major solo exhibitions include The Reconstruction at the Bangkok University Gallery (Bangkok, 2018), Departures at De Sarthe Gallery (Hong Kong, 2017), and A Material History of Man and Animal at Dia Projects (Ho Chi Minh City, 2017).
